They were like that when I got it, so I guess the Linux version of AS is broken.

I downloaded a trial of the Window$ version and got the scripts from it. They seem to work.

I've been using AS Pro 6 on GNU/Linux for a while now, and it keeps throwing an error about end-of-file NULL characters where something else is expected in scripts. So, when I investigated, most of the menu scripts ended in this: moho.document:SetDi or this: local radius = MOHO. or this: l:AddChild(...

I've tried every format and codec available on the Linux version.

Now that I think about it, a C API would be cool. If the developer(s?) share a few headers and add support for dynamic linking, we could add bindings to any language we want.

It's probably either C or C++. I doubt a lot of the program would have to be rewritten, just the part that uses the Lua parser.

I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 with AS Pro 6.1.

Every time I render anything, with any settings, to any format, the program closes. The render is still successful, but I have to restart Anime Studio.

Has anyone experienced similar problems?

I'd like to chip in and say Python scripting would be a far better choice than Lua. A lot more people know Python, it's already installed on Linux and Mac, it has a HUGE standard library, and it it has generally better syntax (in my opinion).

It is undeniable, I think that animation and all it's workings do generate file fragmentation. Fragmentation is generated by the NT kernel and its mediocre filesystem. Therefore, AS will only do anything causing fragmentation while it's writing new files. "Animation and all its workings" ...

GCC? What else could you need? It's also the only free software mentioned on this page so far.
