Re: Pick stuff up and move it in a certain sequence
Greenlaw may have over engineered this little exercise, but, boy, there's a lot to mine here. Thanks for the detailed explanations. For my part, I favor a simple hand switch for this type of action. It's so simple that it can be done in any version of Anime Studio and Moho. HraPuWt2o6o That looks a...

Re: Make hair flow/move on complexly layered characters
What I don't like is people just going "Google is your friend", because that's a very half-assed, somewhat snide response to give someone who's asking for help. Chances are that if they're asking for help, they're asking because they did try searching for answers and what they found wasn't...

Re: Make hair flow/move on complexly layered characters
I hate it when people use that phrase since I actually do make Google searches, but seldom do they actually yield helpful results. I'm only asking because I wasn't able to find adequate info on what I was looking for based on the problem I'm having. What the guy showed in the one single video I saw ...

Re: Make hair flow/move on complexly layered characters
I don't know how to do that. I've heard the terms "nest/ing" and "bone influence" a few times in the past, but I'm not really the sharpest tack in the package when it comes to knowing more advanced tricks with bones. A visual example would help me, whether it's a picture(s) or vi...

Make hair flow/move on complexly layered characters
Independent of the animation in my previous post, I'm currently working on a character and trying to make something a little more detailed than what I usually do in terms of both the actual vector artwork and effects. I've seen some videos on YouTube showing how to make hair flow and shake as the he...

Re: Pick stuff up and move it in a certain sequence
How does that solve the problem with the mask? I have it to where as she puts the chip in her mouth, it disappears behind a mask (using the whole process of "Show All" on the group and "Subtract from mask" on the mask itself), to represent it going partially into her mouth (like ...

Re: Pick stuff up and move it in a certain sequence
If the intention is to show the chip inside the mouth, I would put another duplicate of the chip artwork layer inside the character's mouth layer and allow the mouth layer to mask the chip. This sounds like an awful lot of detail. I can understand putting in this effort if the animation is all abou...

Re: Pick stuff up and move it in a certain sequence
There are a few ways to animate characters picking up and dropping items. Here are two methods I like to use... One common method is to place the artwork being handled by the character inside the character group, and Layer Bind it to a bone. Then, to make the character pick up the item, you simply ...

Pick stuff up and move it in a certain sequence
So in an animation I'm working on, I've got a character who takes a chip out of a bowl, dips it in some salsa, brings it up to her mouth, and the rest is obvious. The problem is that I can't figure out how to make it move in smooth order. The only way I know of that would partially work would be to ...

Limbs in mid-walk cycle keep twitching
I'm attempting to follow a guide on YouTube for how to make a walk cycle. The more "extreme" movements where my character's legs are stretched all the way out in the front and rear work just fine, but whenever I go to add detailed motions like feet turning, knees bending, etc., the parts i...

How do I do that?synthsin75 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 8:58 am Check the z-depth of that layer. You can use orbit view to see why it's floating away.
EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out on my own. Thank you for putting me on the right path with it!

(SOLVED) Hair not moving in sync with head despite being in the same layer
I rigged (or am rigging, just missing a leg and a layer of clothing re: point binding) a character and all of the bones work properly for both a head turn and for ordinary movement of limbs. BUT the problem is that as stated, my character's "rear hair" (behind her head), despite being in t...

Bones simply are NOT working on my character
I'm having major difficulties getting my character Sean (pictured in the thumbnail of a YouTube video I uploaded) rigged with bones. Individual parts of him, namely legs and arms, function completely fine on their own and look absolutely flawless (when they're in a self-contained bone that is NOT pa...
