SPACE ALIEN SUPER CAR vs MUSCLE CAR animation

Post by mrchris1234 »

This animation is a collaboration with me, living in the USA and Youtube friend DAAN LEFERINK, who lives in the netherlands, I had him email me his MUSCLE CAR finished drawing he created in photoshop so I can import it into my ANIME STUDIO PROGRAM to have it race against my SPACE ALIEN SUPER CAR I created for my animation video. this type of car animation collaboration was never done on youtube brfore and it was challenging but exciting to create a project with someone from across the WORLD. ADOBE Photoshop was used to create cars and ANIME STUDIO DEBUT 6 was used to ANIMATE PROJECT AND POWER DIRECTOR 8 was used for finale production.
DAAN DID AN EXCELLENT JOB!!! planning another car animation collaboration for 2012. hope you Enjoy, peace!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsQj0n25 ... ideo_title

There are some really nice things about this, you capture the feeling of speed well, I like the headlights and the in cockpit shot so good atmosphere.

Criticisms would be it's so repetitive. It's probably worth re-watching the fast and Furious and seeing what shots they use. e.g. gear changes, or have a static camera and the cars whizz by (although need to find an engine noise with doppler shift).

16:9 if you can for more cinematic feeling.

In cockpit view, you could animate some reflections on the windscreen from street lights passing by etc. to keep the feeling of speed in those views.

And I'd give the alien a 'voice' when his subtitles come up, maybe something like this http://www.freesound.org/people/oriolgos/sounds/16212/

But anyway, just some points. Overall good stuff, I look forward to the next one.

mr chris wrote: There are hundreds of things I could have added to this animation but, between a full-time demanding day job, teaching cartooning in the evenings, family, and tons of other demands on my time it's just not possible.

Animation is very time consuming, and on top of that designing the images, layout, ideas, and concepts is really tedious, but just having the opportunity to do animation collaborations with my youtube friends from other countries and being able to display their excellent artworkwork and seeing how happy they are with it really makes my day. I thank everyone for checking out my work, more coming soon

[/quote- mr chris] hey shoepie, you have some excellent ideas for car action scenes. I aso wanted to add roll -overs, overhead views, traffic, people in the streets all in the way...all that good wild stuff!!! if i had a team of animators i would really make my car animation videos SO CRAZY!!!!, but since it's just me along doing the whole production on home PC equipment, I have to do what I can with the limited time and resources, You never know, I just might suprise you and add the stuff you metioned... got some new stuff in the works. you and I have the same vision of what CRAZY car action scenes should look like. thanks for checking out my stuff and your feedback,

[quote=" mr chris"] hey Dust, the whole animation is an old illussion of movement techniques used in animation for years, I made the motion streaks on the gound move from foregound to background and just move the cars side to side and made them big and then small over and over ( to look like they' re way back or close up to the camera for the front view scenes,

For side view scens, I made the backdrop loop from left to right, it still was time comsuming to do, but it's way easier than animating people and animals!!! No legs, arms, mouths, head, eyes, lip sync, vocals, or other body parts to move.

If you ever need any detailed info on how I created car animations, send me a message and I'll give you more detail, peace!
Mr Chris
