Victor's Spanish webinar for character creating with AS 9.5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBN2M_7I ... HS&index=3, where he starts with a bitmap image, draws vectors and then shows the construction of mouth and eye masking, does a deluxe rig with smart bones and a head turn, is really useful even if you don't speak a word of Spanish. The step by step approach is so clear it can be followed just visually.
There are also a lot of useful and easily digestible tutorials at http://www.incredibletutorials.com
This of course is not directed to advanced users like Vern and wizaerd who already know the "standard stuff" inside out.

Re: Webinar: Character Rigging and Animation in Anime Studio
I appreciate the kind words and confidence exile, but I'm not anywhere near an advanced user. I do know the standard stuff fairly well, but I still struggle mightily when building and rigging characters. As I said before, there are so many different options for binding bones, for animating things that I sometimes choose the wrong methodology and everything becomes quite a mess. It's a shame the videos you post have no english equivalent. While I'm sure some may be able to follow it solely on visuals alone, I'm afraid I'm not one of them. I like good detailed and verbose instructions.exile wrote:Victor's Spanish webinar for character creating with AS 9.5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBN2M_7I ... There's been enough advancements in v10 that I really hope someone puts together a good step by step video (or series) for building characters, discussing the advantages and disadvantages of some of the different ways it can be accomplished, of the different bone binding methodologies and the advantages and disadvantages of those differing methods, discussing when it's best to use a specific method over the others, etc...
Re: Webinar: Character Rigging and Animation in Anime Studio
Wizaerd, my impression was based less on kindness and more on the quality of your posts.
My guess is that Version 10 has not changed the fundamentals of character creation. Target bones and the new drawing tools are progress, but as far as I can see not a revolution for our rigs - Victor took a character from an older version and just added target bones - there were a couple of minimal problems resulting from the old smart bone actions that he adjusted on the fly.
Most of the webinar on character rigging with version 8 is still relevant, and that version didn't have smart bones.
Probably the best thing is to plow ahead and accept we won't always find the 100% best solution to everything, and try to do it better next time. I'm also learning to save my work at different stages so that if something goes haywire, I can go back without having to start all over again.

+1 for new tutorials showing advantages/disadvantages of doing character design different ways. Loving the new features in version 10. However, a new manual would be more than welcome. It seems every version adds new ways of doing things but never replaces old ways. This gets kind of confusing. But I guess there are still uses for the old ways.
The video tutorials are awesome but sometimes I forget how to do a certain thing and there is no manual to quickly look it up. So then I need to go through the videos which is very time consuming. The anime studio quick start is way outdated.
IMHO, a good up to date manual released at the same time new versions are released, would go a long way in keeping new converts to anime studio loyal to the software.

Re: Webinar: Character Rigging and Animation in Anime Studio
wovenskin, re: the manual, have you looked at Help from within the application? ASP10 comes with both a tutorial manual and a 443-page users manual. You should find them if you look in resources > support > manuals inside your ASP10 folder.
Re: Webinar: Character Rigging and Animation in Anime Studio
Just concerning tutorials: There is always more to learn about designing characters, so of course I agree with wizaerd and wovenskin that tutorials on new and different approaches would be welcome. As far as I'm concerned they don't need to be limited to the new features of Version 10.

Re: Webinar: Character Rigging and Animation in Anime Studio
thanks Ronbo, I stand corrected. There is in fact an up to date users manual. May I however suggest to the developers that when you click on the help menu, there is a link named "manual" rather than a link named (yet again) "help".
