Export with 50p (progressive)?

Post by ophir »

Hi everyone,
I´m working with Anime Studio Pro 9, my project settings are 1280 x 720, 25fps.
Just finished a project, but now the client asks for a final movie with 50p (progressive) for broadcast in HD.
How can I export my animation with these settings??
I´m grateful for any help...!

Tell him that's not standard and that he can't ask for a change of frame rate after the project is finished? After all no normal TV station broadcasts in 50 fps, it's still an experimental standard. (Yes, The Hobbit was done in 50 fps. Is your client equipped with what it takes to project with 50 fps?) And if he demands 50 fps, why not 1920 x 1080 as well? Doesn't make much sense.

You could try and duplicate your file(s), then Animation > "Rescale Keyframes", entire document, double frame length. Change Project settings to 50 fps, then export as video wth 50 fps. (I've never done that.) If you assembled everything in your video editor, it must be set to 50 fps as well before you import anything.

Make sure to charge him extra for this hassle.

Hi Slowtiger,
thanks for your fast reply. Apparently it´s possible in After Effects to change the framerate for export to progressive 50p, so why not in Anime Studio? Do you think it might be an option to export my project as single images, import in AE and export again?

If you just export your original file as 50 fps, it will still have 25 fps - only that each original frame is stored in 2 frames. I assumed your client wishes for an even smoother movement - depending on content this might even make sense.

You´re absolutely right, I just can´t think of any other solution right now. I tried your suggestion from your first post, but it didn´t work, thank you anyway.
I can´t believe I´m the only one here who ever had this issue ... anyone else out there ???

You can try this, but you probably will need to make a some tweaking:

- Save a backup of your file
- Go to File>Project Settings and set the frame rate on 50 (now all your animation will be twice as faster)
- Now go to Animation>Rescale Keyframes and check Rescale entire document. Set the new end frame of the animation to the double (because the framerate is now the double). For example, if the original end was in frame 60, change it to 120.
- Hit ok and cross your fingers. Now your animation is running at 50 frames per second.

Since the original keyframes were created to work fine at 25fps, you will get some problems with the animation, like parts running slowly when it shouldn't. You will need to move some of the keys and probable create some new ones.

PD: Oh, sorry, just noticed it is exactly what Slowtiger posted before. I will ask my money back from that speed reading lessons.

Haha, thanks very much anyway! I tried it, and it´s principally a good idea, but my animation is very long and I would need to adjust a lot of keyframes.
