I realize that I can put them on a new layer, but to keep things more efficient it would be nice if I could prevent certain shapes from rendering.
I am trying to come up with a good way of creating many clothing shape combinations for characters that can quickly be toggled for rendering. All of the clothing shapes must reside on a Vector layer that is parented to a Bone layer so that they are animated along with the character. While it is do-able, it is cumbersome to copy and paste shapes back and forth between layers in order to have control over which ones are rendered.
Is there a better/recommended way to do this?

Use switch layers.
