Seems like something goofy is going on.

Now I created a new Moho file, added a couple of layers with image and vector in it.
Decided to try particles in the Scripts menu.
Went to the Moho menu > Scripts > Particle Effects > Rain.
Then rendered as QT movie and the Rain particles rendered.
Works for others in Particle Effects, too.

Wonder why it does not work when I assign the Particles from the layers? Or has the function just been disabled for this render version of Moho?

The particle rendering bug will be fixed - there should be a second rendering test version coming out later today.

OK, here's a second test of rendering quality, ready for download. Same deal, just replace your old moho.exe file with this one:

This version fixes (or is supposed to fix) all bugs that have come up so far regarding rendering issues, such as brushes, particles, etc. Whoever wants to try this out and give some more feedback, that would be greatly appreciated.

There's also a change regarding gap filling. Gap filling is turned off by default now, and you will almost never want to turn it on. Moho now does some smart, automatic gap filling in cases where two shapes share an edge. For example, in those cases where an arm or leg is split up into two shapes so that it can overlap itself properly. In such cases, Moho will fill just the gap region without making the whole shape bigger than is necessary.

In general, the gap filling issue should no longer be an issue. My advice is to just forget about it and let Moho take care of it. If you created any Moho files in the last render test version of the program, you will probably want to turn off gap filling on those files. For anything you create from now on, it will be off by default.

I just have discovered this thread...

For my actually work on the lines and especially on dynamic lines with the pen pressure, I can show that :

I "lose" some lines but the result is better with the new version...
I think I now can work with a bigger width for the outline and I have to press a little more on my pen !?! To see...

It's not ultra-precise, but man, this is a huge step in rendering. Great job, LM.

It could be my eyes are going batty from staring at particle animations too long, but it seems like the animated particles do not render as sharp as the rest of the animation. The particles seem to render like the older version of Moho - kind of blurred, rough edges.
Again, it could be I have been looking too long at the animations...

I have to do some more testing.

...THANK YOU again for this exciting days! :D I specially love this LM side that leak us info and contents about the things that the other ("...evil?" :twisted:) LM is involved or mixed up in... (Jaja :wink:) ...Well, now I'll treat to be serious (or rylleman will tell me off :roll:) so --> :| Hmmm... Seems that ***Brush*** is still rendering in the old Moho way (disappearing when shapes are away :| :( :cry:) and well, I wonder if finally it don't be affected by the quality improvement, I hope be wrong (PLEASE) cause It'd be a pity (pero pity, pity...), but well... I suppose/understand that it's not possible have everything at last... Sniff... :cry: (THANKS! :D )

The improvements in the handling of variable line widths gets a big thumbs-up from me.

:shock: ...That's INCREDIBLE!!! :D :D :D In a few days you've found the best way to resolve the problem without (for we at least) any complication! I LOVE this kind of "intelligent" functions, I'm trying just now with different complex shapes and seems simply P-E-R-F-E-C-T :) Uf... I can't be more HAPPY! :D Sniff... A test with lots of different Moho functions going on - particles with Moho based drawings, Adobe illustrator drawings, images, motion blur, rain, camera movements, etc., etc. to check out rendering quality.

After read toontoonz message I've been experimenting with particles and: :shock: Definitely I've no words... but I really don't need it 8)

...INCREDIBLE quality, isn't? :D ...By the way, when I was working in this simple proyect (only one Vector layer inside a Particle layer and an Inmune to Camera Movement Background) Moho crashed one time when I was changing Particle Count, I've tried to reproduce the error to report it to you (LM), but I've not could yet... maybe only a casuality, but just in case I'll keep an eye on the next Particle experiments... BYE!

That one is for bitmap images, so I would imagine that nothing has changed on that front since the bitmap images weren't rendering funny to begin with.
