Render animation with alpha background?

Post by HSLegacy »

I want to do an animated overlay for my live streams, but I can't seem to create an alpha background in AS Debut 10. I tried a test animation with selecting AVI (uncompressed), but that doesn't seem to have worked. I need to turn the background to alpha first before exporting it. Any help would be nice.

export as a quicktime with alpha or png or a png image sequence. I'm not sure what options your have on PC and if you have quicktime codec but the latter suggestion is guaranteed to work no matter what. There's more info in the manual probably

Exporting as PNG worked, but now I need to turn it into a GIF (turns out that's all the streaming program will accept in terms of animated overlays). I tried one program called GIF Animator, but it's glitchy. Blender has a video sequencer, but it can't create GIFs. Any solutions for that?

photoshop will do it. There are also some more or less free online tools out there. Just google "convert to gif"
