Custom Brushes Hidden

Post by DK »

It's been a while since I did this but for some reason I can't create a custom brush that will load
into AS10. I copied one of the brushes...save it and go to the brushes folder in explorer and it's not there?...although...
when I browse with my paint app the brushes ARE there. So what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Check if you're in the correct version folder, not accidentially an older one.

Hi Slwo,
Thanks for the response. Yes...I am in the correct version folder.
I have no idea what is going on?
Here's the image I am trying to use as a brush....can you check if it's in the right format?

Thanks

I think it has to be a PNG. And try something smaller first, like 64x64 px ?

Hi Slowtiger,
That is a .png...and something really strange...I got it to work in another version of AS. It's only AS 10 I am having trouble with. I think it has something to do with permissions in the folder.

Cheers

Works fine here, whether in the install directory or the user custom content folder. Did you restart AS or reload scripts after adding it? You may also want to rename it other than an existing brush. Maybe the stock brush is showing instead.

I restarted AS 10 multiple times but didn't reload scripts? I did rename it as well...nothing works. What I can't understand is I cannot see the brushes in my Install folder at all...but when I browse with my paint program it sees them. I have adjusted permissions and still nothing??? It's quite bizarre. The folder will not let me overwrite any of the brushes either even though I have set the folder to allow modifications etc...

Yeah, that does sound bizarre. Are you saying you cannot see the file in the OS file navigator? I would try showing hidden files. Then I'd try adding the brush to the install directory, where you should at least be able to see what's already there.

Hi,
Basically confusion that comes from having different AS versions installed for Beta testing.....
Sorry about the fuss but it really had me scratching my head. Had to De-install till I found the right file folder.

Phew!
