Hi all,
Sorry if this question was asked and answered before. I do not have the time to go browse through all those topics, as my animation should be ready for my son's wedding in a week. I have a quite elaborate scene and I am moving objects in and out of the viewport, but at a certain point it is getting really complicated. Is there a way to create new objects at a later frame than 0, so that I can create them while the rest of the scene is already at the state where the new objects are going to make sense (and have a reference where they should be positioned) ?
Someone suggested I should maybe create multiple scenes and then stitch them together in a video editing program but that would be a problem with the continuity and also I do not have the time to figure out how to work the video editing program so that the stitching will be seamless. So I would rather continue on this single animation flow. If I can create objects at a later frame that would help me enormously.
Thanks for any advice, pointers to tutorials, etc.

Re: introduce objects after frame 0
In the preferences you can disable "Enable drawing tools only on frame 0". That might help.
Personally I find it best to create and import stuff at frame 0, because it keeps the files cleaner.

Re: introduce objects after frame 0
Hi Lukas,
Thanks for the tip. I have found the setting.
I really need to add stuff after frame 0 as I cannot possibly build all those objects in frame 1 and then start animating all the stuff. That would be very complicated.
Ciao

Re: introduce objects after frame 0
enable that preference. When you create objects off frame 0 they are still created at frame 0 but any visibility and fills are keyed where you created it. You can then copy those keys back to frame 0 and delete them from frame X, it's as though you did it at 0 (but you may not need to)
I always have this option on!

Hmm... this is all good info!
What I've done (in my one project I've done so far) is create everything at 0, but then just set the alpha to zero until it needs to show up (via keyframes). I don't know if that is right or wrong, but I did it, and it worked for me.

It's probably easier to use 'Layer visibility' instead of layer opacity/alpha. Because you can easily see in the timeline when it will show up. But it both works.mattchee wrote:Hmm... this is all good info!
