Script needed typing text.
Hi Everyone reading this:
I am looking for a script. I am ashamed to say I am ignorant as to how to do this myself.
What I am looking for is a script that would type the text I enter as an animation one letter at a time as an animation. T...(3 Frames)>.E...(3 Frames)>.X...(3 Frames)>.T...(3 Frames)>.etc. Taking this from a block of text.
Is this possible?
Thanks for any answers they are appreciated.

I do this with an animated mask, which I move wholly or just 2 points to reveal the letters one by one. Quite simple to do, after that I select all keys and set them to step.

Maybe this Heyvern's script (or a modification over it) could do what you want:

or try this (AS11 example) ... https://www.mediafire.com/?ifdh7oyzedauxcp take a look at it, and if you can't figure it out, just say.

OK I'm using Pro but I also have Debut and have the file open in there. It took me a while but I got it. Thanks that is a pretty fast way of doing that. Re: Script needed typing text.
There's a simpler solution. I don't know how we didn't thought it before!
If each letter is a shape, we can make them appear by transparency.
It's faster to do and doesn't require any other layer involved

I did the one with the masking and it worked and looked OK up until I rendered. Then the mask layer showed up! (after waiting a long time for the render)Bummer!selgin wrote:There's a simpler solution. I don't know how we didn't thought it before!

So now I'm trying the new way, but it is frustrating me I could not get any keyframe until I went to frame 1 nothing happen at 0, I did not see that in your video until about the 20th time I watched it. Ugh. well my brain is pretty burned so I'll try again tomorrow.

Renders OK here??!! What (layer / render) setup do you have?uncle808us wrote:

Re: Script needed typing text.
Setup should be:
- group (enable masking, hide all)
- - text layer (mask this layer)
- - mask (add to mask, but keep invisible)

Re: Script needed typing text.
Ok I'll try that. In the example file it was set to subtract.

Re: Script needed typing text.
because the group option was reveal all... so you'll need to change that to hide all if you change subtract to add/keep invisibleuncle808us wrote:Ok I'll try that. In the example file it was set to subtract.
Re: Script needed typing text.
Did this little test, with an additional layer of bolder letters to mimick the impact:
http://www.slowtiger.de/examples/typewriter_normal.mov
In case you don't see it, here's the same animation with a layer of inverted letters:
http://www.slowtiger.de/examples/typewriter_invert.mov
And here's the files:
http://www.slowtiger.de/examples/typewriter.zip
Took me 20 minutes to do. So there's no need for a script unless you want to show a whole book this way.
