How can I made a "Fade in" of a charakter?

Post by Andreas73 »

Hello,

I have build a castle and an Ghost. First I would to open the door and the Ghost came out of the castle, but I think it is for now too difficult to made it.

So I think it would be easier, if the door is open at the beginning and the ghost simply "fade in". I had the Bones Layer "invisible" and at a keyframe it is visible. But it is just there.. I would like to "fade in", so maybe it looks like, that he came out of the shadow of the door, or just apear, like ghost do sometimes :)

Can anyone give me A hint, how to do that?

Thanks :)

Open the layer tab of the top ghost layer.
Check enable animated layer effects.
Set opacity to 0%.
Go to a different frame, set opacity to 100% (or less, it's a ghost).

I Try that bevor, but nothing happens..

Now I see, it is only in the final rendering visible.. Ok, That is often a problem, that it is only visible, if I full rendering the clip.. Searching minutes a mistake that isn't happens

But another question:

I have build the scene with the standard colors. So I use yellow too. But in the ready animation the color is orange.. Why is that so??

Thanks I just found out about the opacity thing myself.. one thing I wish is that you could see all changes that you make but.... sadly you can't.
As for your color problem I can not help. sorry.

If you want more flexibility, you'll want to use the Layer Comps. Layer Comps allows you to separate your scene elements into multiple passes so you can assemble them in another program like After Effects or Fusion. If you use the Batch Export command, you can output all your Layer Comps passes with a couple of mouse clicks. Once you have the layers set up in your compositing program, you'll find you have fully interactive visual control over the transparency effect (in addition to a zillion other options and effects not available in ASP or other animation packages.)

For this and many other practical reasons, using ASP's Layer Comps and a compositing program is the typical workflow at the studio where I work and in my personal projects.

Thanks for the comments: I work at home as a retired guy as a hobby. Don't have After Effects or Fusion. Don't know what Layer Comps are or how to use them I will look into it though.
Update: here is a good thread about layer comps:viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26700

Sure.

BTW, some of the info in that thread is outdated. In the Batch Export panel, we now have the option to render all existing Layer Comps at once so it's not necessary to individually load the scene multiple times as described in the thread. Alternatively, you can just duplicate the currently loaded scene in the queue and change the selected Layer Comp.

I usually do the latter because sometimes I like to create special Layer Comps to make the scene easier to animate but these are not Layer Comps I would actually load in the queue and render.
