Hide bones optically

Post by mystd »

I want to make some adjustments to my art but I've added a lot of bones and they obstruct the view. When I press the eyes symbol on the bones layer it hides all the layers inside but leaves the bones. I need it the other way around hide the bones and show the content without them.

Also when I move a bone to see better and then try to edit some points it always snaps back into a position where I can't see the art.

Er...Bone | Hide Selected Bones?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Oh ok that was easier than I thought, I was so fixated on the eye symbol that I didn't bother to look in there. But I can't manipulate the bones when I hide them, that is a problem. Is it possible to manipulate the bones without all the graphics? There is the graphics of the bones and then the graphics of the bone strength an with those stacked together I pretty much can't see what's beneath. I kind of am trying to move different parts to see if everything works well together so I can adjust the layers to make joints fit together smoothly. Switching between hiding and unhiding the bones is very annyoing there isn't even a keyboard shortcut.

Also is there any way to keep the bone from snapping back into the default pos when I use the translate tool?

Anyone?

I'm currently selecting a bone I move the bone with Z, Press T, it snaps back I use hide selected bones and then try to guess where I have to translate the points to. Then I need to got to bone > show all bones. And repeat the process until the joints are good.

Why can't I just hide the bones and still be able to manipulate the bones??? It's hide bones not hide and disable bones ffs. Why does the positon snap back when I change to other tools can't that be an extra button? This workflow is really really bad, it's so bad it pisses me off.

With this checkbox you can hide all the construction paths and continue working

With this one you can change the way any layer is previewed. If you uncheck paths in a bone layer, the bones won't be visible unless the bone layer be selected (so you can select the content inside a bone layer without seeing the bones).

Thank you so much you're a life saver! I would have never found that. The tooltip even sais show curves I would have thought it was only about the lines between the points.

It's still a bit annoying though since it also disables the lines between the points which I want to edit.

I agree it would be valuable to be able to hide only the curves or only the bones. Instead of always either all or nothing.

Sometimes I need to see the bones while animating, but maybe with half opacity or something, as they can really block the view. Hiding them completely is sometimes a bit crippling.
