How do I remove unwanted white outline?

Post by tpr »

Hi, new guy here. For some reason, whenever I render or export this file, there is a mysterious white outline surrounding the chest layer of the main character in the scene. I have tried to find and select it as a shape, but it does not seem to exist. In another file, I had a similar issue, but when I changed the zoom on the camera, it seemed to go away and I didn't worry about it.

Here is the moho file. Sorry it's so huge (2.7M), wasn't sure the best way to make it smaller to upload.

Thank you for your time & effort, and I apologize in advance if I just turn out to be an idiot.[/img]

Well,I presume you have created the Fill-Layers of your Chest-Shapes in white.
Select your Chest-Layers go to Shape (on top of the Style window)
Select chest and change the fill-colour from white to black.
The white outline should disappear now.

Cheers

Hello tpr, and welcome to the Moho community.

Nolan has given you a starting hint, but here's a bit more detail and a slightly different approach:
You've actually got several layered fills on the chest (possibly caused by leaving auto-fill on when drawing), not counting the shirt, collar and tie.

When you click on a shape using the Select Shape tool (white kidney bean under a black umbrella), the shape should show a small checkered pattern and you should see the background through the checkered pattern.

If you have layered fills, you will see another colour.

To fix this:

1. Click on the shape using the Select Shape tool, then hit Ctrl-DownArrow (i.e. hold the Control key down, and tap the down-pointing arrow key once, then release the Control key) - this selects the next underlying fill shape.
The checkered pattern will disapear, but you will see the extra fill details appear in the Styles window.

Image

2. Use Edit; Clear to clear this extra fill.

You may have to repeat the above steps if you have more than one underlying fill (for example, your chest shape had 2 black and white fill layers hiding under the gray suit colour).

Eventually you should see the background through the checkered fill when you select the filled shape.

If your shape changes colour, you probably cleared the top fill shape by mistake, hit undo and try again.

To reduce the file size:
Save under a different file name, then delete all the layers that are not part of the problem. Save again after deleting the unwanted layers.
If you know how, you might also want to put the file in a .zip archive to compress it even further.
