We've made our debut!

Post by xian »

Hello Everyone,

I have been away from the forums for far too long, but have had to put the animation down and work on the business portion of a new venture.

I don't want to make this sound like an ad or spam ( I still remember the Baby Angels incident), but it is very exciting to have created a product using MOHO.

There is a sample of our first tune at http://www.birthdaytunes.com.

It's not very long, but is indicative of the whole piece.

Anyway, I hope you all like it. The pirate is the character with the hair problem which was fixed by the Switch Slave embedded script that 7 feet did. And of course feedback is always welcome since we are now in production on BirthdayTune number 2 which has a princess theme.

Thanks for listening,

Hey, that's a really neat idea! It's sort of a cross between a singing telegram and a book where you write the name in the front of a kids' book.

How long is each segment? How long does it take to add another name (do you have it scripted in lua)?

Thanks Jorgy,

The song is about 3 and a half minutes.

We don't script the names, but use a more complicated process so that we can composite them in later. It takes a few hours, including recording the audio.

However this was done, I think it is an original idea well done. What a great gift for a child's birthday! Thanks for sharing.

Genius concept and excellent execution! I wish I'd thought of it! It's nice to see actual business models incorporating Moho. I have to admit that it's funny to think someone would choose the pirate theme for little "Angel".

I'm a musician by trade, and only an animation hobbyist, so I'm curious (from an audio perspective) how much of this you need to "re-record" for each name? Do you do a vocal take for every phrase containing the distinct name, or just the name itself? Do you need to re-record the entirety of the "actor 1" audio? I imagine it would be difficult to splice in just the name and make it sound fluid. By the time your voice talent got to "Mary", I'd think the enthusiasm would've started to slip a bit.

Have you considered the potential of this in the "per-download" world of . . . I've said too much. (runs off to start own business).

Best wishes!

Thanks Therm0s,

As far as audio goes, it was alittle bit of both. Sometimes it was just names, sometimes the whole phrase. I have changed the songqriting style to be easier on the talent.

Splices work if the recording environment remains constant and your talent gets into a groove. But it still took a long time to do 500+ names as a starter set.

We have considered the download, but have not quite worked out the business model. The DVD angle is nice because the recipient can hold it, take it to grandma's or a friend's and not have to rely on a computer to be there. I welcome any marketing suggestions or distribution concepts.

Con Mucho Gusto,
