This tutorial was fun. I didn't know about smooth joints. Then I checked and found out it was added in version 12.

If you hadn't posted your video, I still wouldn't know it was a thing. I was still manipulating points and creating actions to make smooth joint movements. Thank you!!!!!

Still a little way to go, to the top seat. "Competition is fierce as they near the final corner ...."

I know a few easy tricks for minimizing or eliminating the amount of point correction I need to do for joints. I'll make a video about this soon.

Moho Tips! 7 Ways To Switch Layer! Pt 1

Post by Greenlaw »

Alisa wants me to write shorter tutorials, but they keep winding up like this one.

At least, I'm getting the production time down: This one took a week to produce. For comparison, the binding methods tutorial took a month to create. I FINALLY have the pipeline figured out, and I think we'll be able to hit a predictable release schedule before too long. The production quality of this episode is looking and sounding better too.

We still have a ways to go to make this project sustainable, but it's getting there.

Anyway, Moho Switch Layer Tips! Pt 2 should be ready next week! This one will be a shorter tutorial for sure. (I promise, Alisa!)

Please enjoy this episode and let me know what you think. As always, please Like, Share, and Subscribe!

Here's the description from the channel page...

In the Moho Pro animation software, there are 7 different ways to operate a Switch Layer. In this episode, we're learning about all 8 of them! (No, that's not a typo!)

My DreamWorks Animation Demo Reel, Part 3 (2025 Edition)

Post by Greenlaw »

I fell a little behind schedule this week, but for good reason: I finally got around to cutting my new demo reel this week. (The last one was five years ago, pre-pandemic days!) You can watch the new reel on my personal YouTube channel (not the Little Green Dog one.)

I used a lot of different tools to create animations at DreamWorks (Maya, LightWave, Blender, Moho, Animate, Photoshop, After Effects, Nuke, etc.,) but there's a healthy amount of Moho represented here, sometimes in unexpected ways.

I'm still trying to get Moho Switch Layer Tips, Part 2 out today. It's a short one, so it could still happen.

In the meantime, please enjoy the reel and let me know what you think!

Moho Switch Layer Tips! Part 2

Post by Greenlaw »

Ok, I'm back on schedule! This morning, we launched Moho Switch Layer Tips! Part 2!

This episode is about the 'secret' Select Switch Layer command shown at the end of Part 1. In a bonus lesson, I also explain how to use Davoodice's Select Bone Layer script.

Enjoy!

Here's the description from YouTube...

In this episode, we'll learn about the mysterious Select Switch Layer (Shift+S) command demonstrated in the last episode. As a bonus lesson, we’re also going to learn about the Select Bone Layer (Shift+B) command. These are not standard Moho commands, but D.R. will show you how to get them and how to use them to streamline your Moho animation workflow.

Special thanks to Davoodice for sharing his handy Select Bone Layer tool, and allowing D.R. to modify and share his variation as the Select Switch Layer tool.

Download The 'Space Tommy' Storyboard...for FREE!

Post by Greenlaw »

That's right, you can download the complete storyboard for Space Tommy: Mission Critical from our new Ko-fi shop...FREE!

Image

This is a PDF of the storyboard created for Space Tommy: Mission Critical, the cartoon short on the Little Green Dog Channel. A storyboard is one of the earliest stages of making an animated cartoon. Seven pages and a total of 50 panels were drawn to plan the action and timing of this one-minute short.

Download it, study it, ask questions. If you'd like to see a tutorial on how to make a storyboard like this one, let me know!

By the way, if you enjoy our cartoons and find our Moho animation tutorial series helpful, please consider making a donation at the Ko-fi page! I love teaching Moho and making these videos, but they take a lot of work and time to produce, so your support and contributions are greatly appreciated!

Watch for an announcement video about other fun stuff we will be offering on Ko-fi.
