Filling a shape problem - Best way?

Post by NealF »

Hi.

I've been drawing my figures with the drawing tool. then filling with the Blob tool set to draw underneath.
This works fine until I try to animate the figure. Then, because the blob and drawing tools have different points, it becomes difficult to animate. Even hard to keep things aligned with the magnet.

I've tried drawing with the multi brush and that works better for this but is sometimes hard to draw unless the shape is one simple shape with no intersecting lines. This, though, works to keep the fill and line together so it's easier to animate.

My question is this, is there a way to use the blob for filling and somehow lock it together with the lines?

thanks.

You could try A.Evseva's Multilayer Magnet tool. This variant Magnet tool works well for editing points across multiple selected layers. Naturally, performance can degrade depending on the number of points and layers being edited. I think the tool requires that all layers share the same transform values, which shouldn't be a problem at frame 0 when you're careful about that sort of thing. Here's the link:

I believe someone made a Multilayer Transform tool, but I can't remember if this is for points or layers. I don't have time to look for it now, but it could be on the Mohoscripts.com site.

Ok, I lied...I had enough time to type Multilayer into the search box at Mohoscripts.com, and found SimplSam's tool, and it works with points:

https://mohoscripts.com/script/ss_multi ... orm_points

I've used this tool before, and It works great, too.

Tip 1: When making Moho FBF, I sometimes break out my shading and line work into separate layers, and these tools work great for editing the layers together.

Tip 2: When I convert an FBF layer to a Switch Layer, I can use the tools to edit multiple frames at once. This is a VERY handy technique.

Hmm...maybe I should make an FBF tutorial. I seem to be answering a lot of questions about it today. Added to the list. :D

Thanks for the tips and links. I'll check them out very soon. Also would love a tutorial on this. I'm a YT subscriber so I should get notified.

LostMarble has a video on filling shapes, it is part of the "Learning Moho from beginner to expert" full course.

Here is a link...
