Region render

Post by alperocak »

Hi all.

Is there a region render option in moho?

No, is there a possibility of it being in new versions?
It would be very useful.

What is your definition of a "Region Render"?
Moho 14.3 » Win 11 Pro 64GB » NVIDIA GTX 1080ti 11GB
Moho 14.3 » Mac mini 2012 8GB » macOS 10.15 Catalina

I think he means the ability to render a small region of the camera view. I use this feature in 3D animation programs. It's a way to speed up shading and lighting development since I don't need to render the entire frame to check my work.

For me, it's not an issue in Moho because I feel the program renders very fast...well, relative to 3D rendering, anyway. Also, I rarely render the entire frame in Moho, preferring to composite everything in another program.

But I can see this option being of great value for users that do everything within Moho. :)

That said, a long time ago, I faked limited region rendering in Moho by placing a black 'window' mask at the top of the layers and set it to Immune To Camera. Most of the time, this layer was hidden, and when I needed it, I scaled and positioned it, and hit Ctrl+R. From what I recall, it was pretty effective when working on the underpowered netbook I was using at the time. (This was back when I made Scareplane!) :D

Yes, I am talking about the render region that we use in 3D programs.
I sometimes render the entire scene with Moho.
Many times I see small errors in the final renders and I want to re-render only that faulty part of my scene.

A render region option can be very useful.

It might be cool if it was a marque tool that I could drag over the screen, and clicking a button would tell Moho to render that region of the screen as an overlay or inside a window that's only as large as the selection. The selected region should stay active while I work and update when the button is clicked again. I'm just thinking out loud and wishfully. :D

Somewhat related: I wish the Preview Render window was a single window with a list of previous preview renders I can page through. A/B comparison option would be helpful, too.
