Flash Help - Transition

Post by bupaje »

Hi. I want to do a transition in Flash and need help thinking in through. I did a quick example here

http://www.stormvisions.com/bc/fishgroup3.swf

Basically I want a school of flying fish to go by, then a couple fly by close to the camera and as they go by the wipe to the new scene. So in front of the fish you'll see the current scene and behind the fish's tail will be the new scene, exposed by their passage -does that make sense?

I'm not sure what to mask, and need help thinking it through. If someone can explain it I'll do it -I don't have time to kill a week futzing with 3 seconds of animtion until I figure it out which is why I ask. :)

Mask the bottom scene. You need to create a mask layer above that bottom scene layer, and have a shape in the mask layer move across to reveal the bottom scene. Hope that made sense. There should be a built in tutorial in Flash that shows you how to work with masks.

Ahhh, had to repeat your answer to myself a few times but now I got it - thanks! I've done some simple masking stuff already but not enough to where it is intuitive yet. Will try this out today.
