You should definitely use AS-Pro to design your character. I've always hated drawing with the computer. Scanned all my drawings in and went from there. But with AS-Pro the mouse in mow my friend.
Photoshop Elements is cheaper (at least when I bought it) and I use it to create bachgrounds and texture for my works.

Janimattrix - you must have ASP cracked by now- you have had it it for at least 2 or 3 hours.. Please give us your take on it. If you buy Photoshop, please give us all the skinny on that too. We need people like you
I am great at singing. No one has ever told me so, but I just know it. Us people who are great at things must stick together.
PS I am great at golf, snooker and tennis as well.
I'm still checking it out. I am finishing up a project in flash for a client and learning about PS. So far it is really cool!

Hey! I good so far playing chess!... .... and that's true!
Anime Studio is definitely better and easier than Flash when it comes to animation. Don't forget that Flash still has actionscript and can create interactive content. Maybe use Anime Studio to render your characters and import them in Flash for e.g. a game?
And yes, I do feel Adobe is trying to make a sucker out of me with the new release of Flash CS3...*sigh*

I think your correct. AS does look much better with those smooth movements. It looks more like a real cartoon that you would see in a movie or on the cartoon network. Yes your also right about flash is still cool for video games and interactive things. How do I import animations from AS into flash?
No, only SWF. (Which strangely doesn't work right for me), but now that I think about it, SWF will suffice, as AS does not have any actionscript, and you can re-place your soundtrack in Flash as well.
The most common formats AS can export and Flash can import are:
:: AVI/MOV : Best used when no transparent background is needed.
e.g. full animated movie clips (including backgrounds)
:: PNG sequences : Best used when transparency and anti-aliasing are vital.
e.g. animated game sprites.
:: SWF : Good for all purposes. Haven't tested properly with AS though.

I really want to export it to flash. I'm just so use to it since I have been animating with macromedia 8 for years now.
Maybe you can help me with this. I followed the tutorial for the greek warrior but I made my characters upper body to large and there is no room for the legs. is there a way to scale the whole thing down smaller all at the same time? in flash you can select everything at once and sale it down.
