Hi
I have a character that has 3 different views: - Front view, side view and also back view.
How do I incorporate all of these views into the timeline.
When I was working in fornt view of character and did some animation in the timeline that seemed to be OK but when I tried to also put some animation from the side view in it didn't seem to show!
Is there a set way of doing this? or does anybody know of any working examples. The tutorials never explained this.
Thanks
Kirk
Working Different Views Of Character

Hi Slowtiger.
Some great examples of the switch layer there but I'm not sure I've explained myself properly.
This is what I'm after: -
Let's say that I have my character saying or doing something on a front view but then I want the character to continue what he's doing from a side view for eg, How is this incorporated into the timeline? or in fact is it even possible?
Is this something that would need to be done in an editing suite later on in another program?
In effect, all I really want to do is put a series of different shots together. These different shots may be using the same character or using another character aswell. If I was making a short on camera, I would simply film a shot with an actors close up, them maybe a shot with the actor full body or even a shot with a profile view. I would then go back and edit the whole thing in my editing suite which is currently media pro and also adobe premier. The same procedure would be followed if I was filming a scene with 2 actors in it. One single shot of each actor and then a two shot which would be later edited to make the scene.
However, the timeline I use with media pro and premier has a range of tracks which means I can add as many different shots as I want to each track of my choice making the whole process easy to edit. Does Anime have this option or do I need to take my separate rendered files and then edit them in another application as mentioned above?
In short, can I add all of my shots or rather amimations in to the timeline to make the complete scene?
Hope this explains things a little better.

You could do it in AS or you could do it in post.
To do it in AS I would "stack" all of the scenes or views of the character/s probably in a switch layer to make it easier.
Remember there are no limits to what can be inside a switch layer. Imagine if you had two characters talking on a "set" of some kind and you had 3 different views already done from different angles. You put those inside a bone layer or group layer INSIDE the switch and then just cut back and forth however you want by keying the switch.
Or you could just use the layers transparency or visibility to cut back and forth. That would take more effort but it gives you more options if you want to use fades. Using fades to cut back and forth during a talking scene is probably not a good idea though.
You would need to make sure that all the lip sync is "lined up" but that isn't too hard if you are animating to the same sound track or if you use DAT files from papagayo.

I have all the differents views in a switch layer. After I chose one for one in the timeline and ready! the character is turning!
