Keyfrane timings - better or more options

Post by Rhoel »

At the present time, when you right click on a keyframe, there are half a dozen timing options, ease in/out, smooth etc.

Yesterday I tried to do a bouncing ball test (standard animators exercise) and I was alarmed to discover i could not get the bounce timing effect I wanted.

So I tried another test, the driving down a street (sometimes called the infinite zoom) ... this requires exponential timings. Again, I couldn't do it.

What is missing is fine control of the curves. The easy option would be to have the ease in/out options for both sides of a keyframe. This way you could have a linear start to a move, with an ease into the next key position.

The harder option for the programmers (but best solution) is to have bezier-type controls such as you have on 3Dmax. This way you have 100% control over the timings.

In the graph mode, it is good tro see the keyframes and edit them insitue.
