Linux - Wacom tablet freezes AS

Post by rylleman »

Sometimes when running ASpro on linux with an Wacom tablet plugged in AS stop responding to clicking and keyboard input.
A restart of AS is not enough to get it working properly again, the problem persists until you restart X.

I havent yet figured out exactly in which circumstances it occurs but I think it has something to do with the vector tools. But again, I'm not sure. Sometimes it happens every 5-10 minutes and at other times I can work flawlessly an hour or so.
It never happens when not having the tablet plugged in.

Running ASpro on Ubuntu 7.10 with a Wacom Intous3 on a sonyVaio laptop.

I have this error on every computer I've tried A.S on (together with a Wacom) and it's not just in Gnome, same behaviour in KDE.

Since this is a quite serious bug, you can't run A.S on linux if you have a wacom-tablet, it would be appriciated with at least some acknowledgement that it has been noticed by Lost Marble or e-frontier or Smith Micro or whoever is captain of this ship nowadays.

Has anyone had AS running together with a Wacom-tablet on linux without any problems?, and if so, what is you setup?

This has to do with the pad on the tablet (buttons and scrollpad). If I comment out the input device "pad" in xorg.conf there are no crashes in ASP.
(Keeping the other wacom input devices so the pen still works)

Disabling the pads and buttons makes ASP work but it is a huge disadvantage not beeing able to use the tablet to it's full extent.
So, I'm still hoping and waiting for a fix of this bug for ASP 5.7.
