Convert 16 fps animation to 24 fps

Post by rogermate »

What steps do I follow to convert an .anme file that is at 16fps to 24fps. I know how to set the fps in Project Settings, but I don't want the speed of the motion to change.

It hasn't worked on a simple test file, which has one step motion on each of four seconds. I tried scale animation changing the endframe from 64 to 96, but the stretching is inconsistent. I verified that project settings starts with the animation being 64 seconds. Rather than getting the action over 24 frames, it is 36 frames.

Can someone give a step by step?

"Rescale Keyframes"

If you have 6.x version of AS. You have a bug to contend with.

A workaround for 6.x is to make sure that the Start Frame # is bigger than the New end frame #.

1- Go to Preferences and turn on Consolidate time line channels.
2- Move all the animation points ahead beyond the last frame of the retimed animation, in other words, out of the way of the retimed animation. Note: make sure you have a keyframe at the start of your animation, if not add a keyframe before moving the points.
3- Rescale Keyframes. note: subtract 1 from the actual location of "New Start Frame"
4- Go to Preferences and turn off Consolidate time line Channels.
5- Delete keyframes from unused layers and you're done!

Thanks, I made a note of the instructions for next time.

It's a relief to know that there was a bug. I just reanimated it for now.

Do you know if it is possible to rescale actions, other than putting them all in the main timeline, rescaling, and recreating as actions?

It works with actions too, if you retime the actions then all incidents are rescaled as well.

Must you execute the menu command for each action?

Is there a way to do them all at once?
