Sorry, I meant that in the context of being a Toonboom killer.

I'm sure ASP6 feels like a big step forward for existing ASP users, but I'm not seeing any huge features announced that are going to turn heads for users of other software.

It feels more like Anime Studio 1.0, a reboot of the franchise (like the new Star Trek film), a solid foundation that something huge can be built upon. Now all the little quirks are worked out, the next version will have the big killer features.

That's why we should be honest, no one gets better by being told that that can't put a foot wrong.
We have to go easy on the absolute noobs, true, but I can't condone kidding ourselves just so we can feel warm and fuzzy about our dodgy artwork.

Hey, I guess I stepped in on this conversation without knowing the territory first. It looked a lot more antagonistic than it really was, apparantly.

I've often wondered if it's more productive to give honest evaluation/critique of some of the work I've seen ala Simon Cowell, but I often think it's best just to keep my big mouth shut.

I agree, if you're in the infancy of your artistic development it's often just best to let the world at large be the ultimate critic and to take your successes where you can. Then again, if you're in the infancy of your development it's best to simply admit that to yourself and delay displaying your work until you've gained more skill and confidence. That way you don't sabotage yourself too early on. The noobie certainly requires a bit more coddling than I'm accustomed to (let alone any good at) giving.

That's not quite true. I implemented a couple scripting features based specifically on your suggestions.

So, Annecy is over, and I haven't heard anything about any new software premiered there yet.

Any news on this?
