I actually don't draw with the stylus in ASP - except for simple things like eyebrows, bags under eyes, spaces between animal toes, and the like. I agree that freehand drawing isn't so hot in ASP. I normally start with ellipses and rectangles, pushing, pulling, adding and subtracting points until I get the shapes I need.
I haven't fully given freehand drawing a go, but historically it has been too loose in visual appearance and creates way too many points. The final result seems to be a kind of squishy looking character, and I like mine to look more tight...polished(?) than I seem to get when using freehand lines generally.
I think the Surface Pro is going to be really handy for more organic looking background images. But I do like using the stylus instead of the mouse generally when it is applied directly to the screen like drawing on paper. That in conjunction with finger touching for navigation has made browsing the net a joy in particular.
Funny thing - ASP doesn't really seem to take good advantage of touch. I can zoom in and out, but it is backwards in motion than usual (pinching in zooms in, pinching outwards zooms out - sounds logical in print, but it is backwards).
I might tend to agree that the mouse is maybe the most stable way to use ASP, but after seeing Victor in webinars using a stylus, it would appear possible to become proficient either way.
EDIT: I really like the idea of an erase tool that knocks out points!

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
