lwaxana wrote:Thanks, Brandon and Greenlaw! I just posted the latest with all of the song blocked in. It still needs adjustments and backgrounds. There are also additional scenes after this, so a lot of work left to do!
It's looking great! Keep posting the WIP. :)

Sorry to spam with all these updates, it just helps me to feel like I'm making progress. :D Now updated with the complete rough draft, so can see the end of the story. Let me know if you have any suggestions because I'm actually almost done! Yay!!

Awesome! That could easily have been part of the broadcast show, and it put a big smile on my face.

Excellent work lwaxana!

I like the "toki-doki" style rabbit ears :-)

Nice job

That is very cool - lots of effort put in to make a very nice fan flick that the Adventure Time team would be in appreciation of. Loved it!

The music was cool too! :)

I'll say it again...that was fantastic! Congratulations on getting the film finished.

Question: How do you like working in TB Animate for your FBF? I got TBA quite a while back, thinking it would make a great sister-program to ASP too, but I never actually got around to using it. (Maybe after we finish our current production.)

Thanks, everyone! :D

Greenlaw -- I ended up using less frame by frame than I had originally planned. One reason was time constraints. Another reason was that I didn't know there was a way to scrub audio in Animate. Trying to do anything timed to audio without scrubbing is a nightmare. I'm actually so glad you asked this because it prompted me to do some research and to learn that there is an option for scrubbing after all! So I'm looking forward to using that in the future. There are several basic functions in Animate that I don't quite understand so perhaps more research is in order. I do have some shorter animation tests I'm thinking of trying in animate soon. I'd love to know how your next attempt with TBA goes! I still think using both Anime Studio and Animate each to their strengths could be an awesome workflow. It's just twice the learning curve. :D

Yes, I know what you mean. I'm compositing out current production in After Effects and finding it very annoying that AE doesn't do live audio while keyframing--apparently you have to generate a RAM preview first to hear audio. Surprising, and ugh! (If I'm wrong about this, somebody please, please correct me.)

Cool! I'll have to look into it myself. I've had the program forever because, IMO, you can never have too many tools in the tool box. (Learning to use them all effectively though...that's a whole other thing.) :)

Great stuff lwaxana, the sound production was remarkable. Really cute stuff, I'd love to see that effort go into your own style

Thanks, Chucky! The sound production was pretty much all Rob Soundtrack and the voice actors Kelly Chichi Boyer and Kaliopae. They were amazing!! Music and voice acting are not my skill set. lol But it was educational for me in working with a team especially where I know I don't have the skills. After such a good experience there, I'm thinking of pulling in a background illustrator as well.

I'm always working on my original web series, but I do have plans for more small fan animation and tests. :D I'm still developing the production designs, story, and animation methods to use for the series. And smaller projects are really a tool to experiment and test all these things so I can implement my findings on my bigger project. That works better for me than redoing work on my series over and over as I have in the past. Also this is the first project I've really shown to my target audience (teenage girls/young adult women), and it has been so exciting to finally connect with them! So I definitely feel like this is a necessary part of the learning process for me.

But I absolutely take your point that each little step on the main project will get you to the goal.
I recently did a sort of character test using two of my characters for this 11 second club animation:

It's getting close to what I envision. Just a few more things to iron out.

Great acting and choice of shots lwaxana. I also like the colour an composition, so that pretty much covers it. Nice work.
