Perfect - I had tried that and thought there weren't any options, but of course in the "save as" window I have the choice of either animation + alpha and PNG + alpha both of which work very nicely. Thanks so much slowtiger!

Ah, glad you found it - yes, I meant the 'Quicktime-Option' at the bottom.
As I searched for that option, it took me some time as well - you just don't look at first at the bottom.
