I think you've hit a limitation of what you can currently do from a modeless dialog button. Unless Mike makes the scripting interface available for each button press, operations like changing the frame can't be done. Like I said before, you might have to consider having a tool button script that "applies" the current settings in the modeless dialog.

This is brilliant guys! I've been looking for this option for hours before I stumbled upon this post.

I think it can be very useful for making specific UI's for custom rigs. For example for selecting switch layers without having to go through the layer hierarchy. Instead of that each rig can have a small floating custom UI where you can select the mouth, hand or bonelayer etc.
