Like I said, twice, he is selling videos with his Rose Agent Package on content paradise, they have no sound and are pretty low resolution, but he shows how he build those!

hmmmm, 40 bucks. Its worth it but I dont know if it will actually show me step by step. Maybe it will go on sale. Ill check it out

No, it won't show you step by step. I bought that a couple of years ago. But you can take the characters apart to see how they're made and that's really what you need. Sangs a fantastic artist and if I could be a tenth of his ability, i'd be happy. He popped into the forum a couple of months ago, so maybe you could PM him and ask for his advice on how you should proceed.

Well, in the videos he actually builds the Rose Agent character from scratch, maybe this is what you are looking for?

You're right Gilles, I don't have the vids in the file, but the README lists them. I don't remember what I did with them, I thought I had all of the pack in one folder. I'm kind of bummed now. :cry:

i would want to see how it is done by scratch. Hmmm. I need to put my money were my mouth is. Does the video show the character doing the 3d movement stuff?

I skimmed through the videos and he does start from scratch but seems to build and animate the head only, with head turn, hair etc.

thanks for the info! So you have it right? Has it tought you the fundamentals of anime?

i just learned the anime style by emulating animes-

I don't use the bones because it doesn't look right. So I do FBF...

Well, frame by frame and point motion.

All the hair, clothes, talking and facial expressions I use point motion and for complex stuff I use frame by frame

beware if you do this though- HUGE files....but i like to think its worth it :roll:

(WARNING: POSSIBLE BEGINNER QUESTION) is point animation better than bone animation when making those 3d like movements?

I believe in a combination of the two. Even if you do true frame by frame animation bones can still help you with subtle motions. Check out the film Romeo and Juliet: Sealed by a kiss. Most of it is frame by frame animation done in Flash but he also used AS for subtle movements.

And bones were definetely used in Technotise as evidenced by the screenshot I posted earlier.

Not following you really here.

Anime is a cartoon style really, so yes, AS can make anime style animation, in an advanced cut-out fashion.

If you want to know if AS can make the type of anime you see on tv, again, yes it can, to a point, it is not a hand drawn animation package, but you can get close to it.

You talk about 3d effects, you mean like this?

You can get as close to anime style as you could with pretty much any other 2D animation package out there, but with a different but yet very powerful set of tools.

I will tell you what I said to others before, just dig into the software, work with it, and find out for yourself what it can do!

3D effects?

Do you mean like those Appleseed Movies? They were in 3D I think. Some of the Ghost In the Shell anime stuff looked 3D but that was actually 2D and from what I found out, was laboriously handrawn.

So I'm sure you can make things 3D.

Personally I don't use the bones at all, the motion looks unnatural to me because its a bit too "Disney" style where as Anime is a bit more rough due to it being hand drawn. That's why I like the frame by frame.

If you want to make something 3d you can either draw it 3D or draw it 2D and use AS inflate and cell shading to make it look 3d but be warned- that uses alot of memory and makes a big file

Although I have to admit- I'm still not sure by what you mean to make 3D movements unless you're talking about depth in a drawing?

Edit: I'll make another tutorial to show you how I do some things - It may or may not help

Layer settings>3D Options>3D conversion settings>Inflate

What I think Riziam means by 3D is the smoothly animated movements seen in Technotise. Since it's so well drawn the head turns and body turns look almost 3D.
