I used the inflate tool to make a 3D matrix effect in this- it took so long I decided to not bother with doing detail as that would've taken over a day to render

BTW this was one of my early experiments with anime- and it kinda sucked, cept maybe the humour

The inflate is in the Layer Properties in AS 7

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Kellz, do you use any added scripts? Also, can you show how you actually design your characters? Im having trouble keeping my characters proportioned. Thanks (that link looks a little off. Maybe because im on my iphone and its showing a non mobile link. If it doesnt work then his username is 1x93cm on youtube)

Ok- I'll do a bit of character design for another "tutorial"

Also- I don't use any scripts

For facial proportions I drew a face template from all angles and use those to start with and design the char around them

This my page for anybody that can't find the link
http://www.youtube.com/user/1x93cm

also I do alot of frame by frame, maybe thats why its easier to keep things proportioned instead of translating points and blend morph but idk

Great! Be sure to let me know (and others.....) when youve posted it. If you could, you can post the link on this thread along with the share your work section. That way we can keep all the helpful videos in one thread and people who want to learn the anime style dont have to look around all over the forums. Thanks 8)

I don't know what they use for the animation but it seem capable that this software could do it. Basically the body was model in CG then taking apart as separate cutout to be animated with a bone skeleton system. The head was green screen capture and composite and match with the cutout character.

Thats not a anime style animation that we were chatting about.(whether you meant it to be or not). Thats more like the saddam hussein character in south park lol. You know how his head is realistic but its bodys is blocks. Classic. Anyway, I didnt watch it so theres a 1% chance i missed something. But the preview pic they showed was the south park animation i was talking about. ( hulu doesnt work on iphone)

Hey Riziam

Hey Riziam,
I'm not an expert at ASP yet, but I've been tinkering with version 7 a while, and have seen a lot of people's work, and I honestly believe there isn't much ASP can't do, provided the person has the imagination and is willing to put in the time.
As one of the other comments pointed out, there are times when frame by frame animation would be more appropriate (and maybe even easier), but there's certainly no reason you couldn't combine the two. And also, there are various workarounds you can do, to substitute for frame-by-frame.
Anyway, that's just my two cents. I've been wanting to get into this more deeply, lately, cuz it really is a cool program.

The question is: how good can you draw? If you can't - you're lost. Good anime is based on good drawings. There's no shortcut. There's no magic "insert hair blowing dramatically in the wind" button in the software.
haha that last "Hair blowing in the wind" button comment was a classic, Tiger.

tiger is right though, without a bit of talent and dedication, any type of professional animation endeavour is waste of time.

You need to work, and work hard, spend huge amount of time in your art, or you might as well sell candies on the corner of main and fifth avenue!
