I'm sorry, this is the most newbie question I've ever asked in a forum... But I want to import a scanned, fully colored image (in BMP format), and I can't figure out how to do it. I can rig bones and manipulate them with the characters the program gives me, but I just can't figure out how to import my own characters! Please help!

Using Anime Studio Pro / OSX 10.4.11
File / Import / Image...
or drag your image directly into the viewport, Anime Studio will ask you:
“How would you like to use this image?” - “Tracing Image” or “New Image Layer” -
make your choice.
Regarding the file formats, check the Help-files: Reference / Import Formats.
Cheers

Thank you for the feedback!
I know I have to use "File > Import > Image...", but "Image..." is in gray. I can't access it. Is it disabled because I haven't registered the product yet? I'm using Trial Mode right now, and I can't think of any other reason for functions to be disabled...

Although JPEG, BMP, Targa, GIF, and PNG should be supported, it could be that your specific file has some error in it. Try saving it in one of the other formats and import again. PNG is the recommended format anyway because it allows for transparencies.

It is probably a limitation in the demo.
There is no reason I know off when the import image would be grayed out.
Check to see if image is available in the New layer button in the layer palette. If it is grayed out there as well it is probably not functional in the demo.

I know that the version before 5.5 was unable to import images using osx 10.4...,it was all greyed out, the latest version of AS fixed this problem.
