In addition to interpolation between switched layers, it would be nice to have a cross fade switch where frame 1 is layer 1, frame two is a 50/50 cross-fade d blend of layers 1 and 2, and frame three is full layer 2.

That would introduce a little bit more smoothness into abrupt transitions.

Right now this can be simulated by using non-switched layers and using visibility and opacity to create one extra frame that blends two layers together.
