Well, I installed Anime Studio on my desktop computer, but it has been faulty lately (the computer) So I want to transfer AS from my desktop to my laptop computer.

I have read the Terms of Use and I'm worried that If I change the program to another computer I'll get in trouble.

My point Being, If i erase AS from my desktop, can I install it again on my laptop, or do I need some sort of permission?

Please help me, I submitted this to customer support, but I haven't gotten a reply. I understand that it may have something to do with the company change and such, but please help me! I just wanna make animations!!

You have the serial number. You own the software and it is not locked to the machine so you can move it.

Since I still have the CD, can I install it on my laptop and erase from the desktop when it arrives or do I have to erase it first?

1. Grant of License
The enclosed computer program (The "Software") is licensed, not sold, to you by e frontier America, Inc. ("e frontier") for use only under the terms and conditions of this EULA, and e frontier reserves any rights not expressly granted to you. You own the compact disk on which the Software is recorded or fixed, but the Software is owned by Lost Marble, Inc. & e frontier and is protected by the copyright laws of the United States and international copyright treaty provisions.

The copyright restrictions of this EULA extend to any further updates, software patches, or bug fixes made available to you by e frontier, whether distributed on floppy disk, compact disk, or in an electronic format via download, BBS, forum, ftp, e-mail, etc. You may use one copy of Anime Studio 5 on a single computer at a time. To "use" the Software means that the Software is either loaded in the temporary memory (i.e., RAM) of a computer, or installed on the permanent memory of a computer (i.e., hard disk, compact disk, etc.).

so can I?

It can't be any clearer. YES! You can move the software to another computer.

It's always nice to see people concerned with respecting liscensing.

I normally don't read the license agreements. I would have assumed that I could have installed it on both my laptop and my iMac as long as I was the only person using it as that is usually how it is done. I cant use it on both machines at once so I would never have thought it an issue.

Seems I was wrong in this case. So using AS in a business if I had to leave the house I would have to get into the uninstall AS from my iMac and then install it on my laptop for the period outside my house then reverse that for when I got back home again. Not very helpful but if thats the way they want it...

Put AS into a flash drive. Now it portable, and you can take it anywhere. Moho, my version has it license stored in a file, not the registry. Remove the file and you get MOHO all over the renderings.

Mike, the licence says

You may use one copy of Anime Studio 5 on a single computer at a time.

By implication, you are not breaking the EULA agreement. You ARE using ONE copy on a SINGLE computer at A time, where in law a = one, singular time. When you stop using the PC and go home. the machine is off and no other person is using the machine. Legally (though a moot point), if it is not powered up, its not even a computer.

I remember a heated debate on this about three years ago when a software company refused to discount bulk licenses. The two companies involved (A + B) cooperated to set up a third company C to buy and operate the half the licenses they originally needed - in that case a render farm. The software company said the companies were cheating, that two USERS shared the same licence.

The challenge failed because Company C owned the correct number of licenses per machine and operated as a facilities house, renting 12 hours a day to A, 12 hours to B, which turned out to be legal. The fact Company C was in fact Company's A & B as the only shareholders was immaterial in law. Worst, the legal minds deemed the software company had placed itself in breach of the licenses by refusing to supply support and upgrades.

In your case, one user using one licence. no issue.

The license says that "using" the program includes it being installed in the temprary or hard drive memory of the computer. Look JUUUSt behind where it says One copy of Anime STudio 5 at a time
