Fill 'mapping'?

I'm pretty sure this can't be done in AS, but it never hurts to ask. Is there any way to make a fill 'map' across intervening construction curves, without using separate fills. I need a single fill effect to basically work across more than one shape. Like two ajacent shapes that share a halo effect, meaning the connecting line is ignored by the effect.


It would be nice if AS had fill effects that could be applied and adjusted globally.

I only see it possible to do it using masking.

Not sure I understand.

Shapes can be applied to any set of points. Just select the points. If it creates a "closed" shape hit the space and apply any effects to it you want.

You can have two shapes on a mesh, and add another single shape to the same points that the two shapes use, just don't select the dividing spline points when you create the shape.

Sometimes a mesh will have "too few points" and you can't create a proper fill shape. For instance a 6 point rectangle with a single spline connecting top to bottom splitting it in half. If that spline has no point in the middle of it you can not create a fill for the whole outer shape. It always selects the two points that make up that split spline down the middle causing the fill to not be valid. You would have to create two shapes by selecting 4 points on each "half".

Just stick a single point on that line and then it works. That sounds confusing... I hope it makes sense.

Yeah Genete, I figured masking was the only way. Too bad I can't mask with shapes in the same layer.

Vern, what I mean, using your rectangle as example, is if I were to pull the dividing spline outside of the rectangle itself, only two separate fills would allow that spline to 'pull' the fill with it. A single fill will always stay within the rectangle.

Anyway, I figured it wouldn't be possible. Thanks guys.
