This is probably a dumb newbie question but here it goes. I just downloaded Anime Studio demo and I would like to know how to import my scanned pencil drawings and trace over them. Or do I have to purchase the full version.

I think you can do this in the demo. In the layers palette, create a new image layer, and it'll ask you to select your image.

Actually, the best way to "Trace" is to turn off the fill on your vector layer (which lies above the image layer). This way you can save the settings (you cannot with the "trace" type function) and it's easy to see what you are doing.

The other alternative is to just turn down the vector and/or image layer transparency (and enabling transparency to show in quality settings) -- experimenting will determine what you like. But I like doing the above and it works for me.

I also like to use these:

• rotate the workspace (Control key and dragging with right mouse key pressed) - for easy drawing
• Zoom the Workspace (Shift key and dragging left or right with right mouse key pressed) - for details
• Pan the Workspace (dragging with right mouse key pressed) - when you're zoomed in and want to access another part of the view
• Home key - to reset the view
