An example of "Strata-cut" Animation Technique

While surfing the web, I stumbled across an example of "strata-cut" animation.I had never heard of this type of animation before. Apparently, its made by "building" "loafs" of clay made up of many colored strands......then slicing the end of the loaf....taking a photo......slice again .....take a photo....etc. in a stop-mo way. The "art" of the technique seems to be in buiding the loafs in such a way to reveal imagery in them such as figures, objects, faces, etc. when sliced. Parts of the result appear like a psychedelic oil painting thats painting itself. An unusual way to animate.....but can get some interesting results.
