new to AS Pro

I recently upgraded to ASPro. Here is a sort of newby
inquiry: I would like to create a 3d scene of clouds, where
the camera sort of backs away from a closeup of a cloud
in the distance, through to the foreground clouds. How is
depth determined in the 3d scenes, and how is it set up?

I appreciate the help in AS forum that you pros have
given to the AS apostles!

In the project settings there is a check box for "Enable 3D Camera". This should get you started. There is another check box for depth sorting on the layer properties.

This would sort layers based on the z axis. You would want to set the cloud layers at different z axis values and either animate the camera moving away on the z axis or animate the layers on the z axis. I tried playing around with the 3D thing real fast and it was a pain to get what I wanted.

You could achieve what you want using layer scaling and translation. Animate the scale of the clouds, and the scale and translation of the other clouds as they "close in" over the first cloud. This might give you much more control over the animation. You see exactly what's happening and you have precise control over everthing.

Thanks for the insights on 3d controls!

It didn't occur to me to just use scaling. This
seems to be the most obvious way to
navigate through Heaven, which is my
objective.

The other way would be through piety,
prayer and proper living,
none of which
I am very good at!

It's good that you can solve problems like this. Can you lend me a tenner?
