how do i copy keyframes from main timeline to actions timeline?

got it now.......................replaced the batteries in my brain

i was trying to add the keyframes to a group layer action but all the keyframes were done on the child layers so when i pasted the group layer keyframe to the action none of the child layer keyframes were being added only the grouplayer keyframes were pasted

phew!!
