select all objects in different layers

Hi

I was wondering how to select all objects in different layers
and scale them without putting everything in one group layer and scaling that layer.

generally I didn't find way to select shapes from different layers
or to join selections in same layer (eg... select one shape and then press shift to add second shape...something like this).

Any help would be appreciated

Here you will find Fazek's replacement tools. They are much more intuitive than the original tools.

With these the scale tool will remember the x/y scaling text input so you can just select each layer, select your points, and hit the scale button. Also most, if not all, of these utilize shift to add to the selection.

thank you for answer

I didn't know such a tools exist at all :)

But problem I have still exist...If I scale object by object
they stay in their relative center thus whole character is not same anymore.
it is not same as selecting all objects in all layers and then scaling
them like one selected group.

is there a script that can achieve this?

There is no way to select vectors across layers. I'm not saying this wouldn't be possible... it just hasn't been done yet. ;)

However there is a "trick" for maintaining a center point across layers. What I do is draw a vector "box" that encompasses all the shapes on all layers. Copy this vector box and paste it on every layer. Doesn't take long. Then you select all on each layer and follow the tip Synthsin75 gave you about using Fazek's replacement scale points tool. Since all of the points are enclosed in the same box they will scale exactly the same.

I've found that the translate tool doesn't constrain movement with the shift key. Otherwise it's a big improvement over the out-of-the-box LM tools!

Since Fazek's tools use shift to change the selection, it uses control(command) to constrain.

Once again, thanks Synth!

Wait- that might be a Windows thing. I'm not seeing it happening on my Mac.

Command should work on Mac.

Vern should be able to tell you.

My bad, I was using alt instead of command. You're right. Thanks.
