Hey, I havent been using anime studio for too long but I cant seem to find anything about this wherever I look. I am trying to figure out if you can change the order of the layers in anime studio during playback, so you can have a scene where an object passes in front of another object going one way, and then passes behind it going the other way. I do not have anime studio pro so i cannot use depth sorting to take care of it, it is just starting to frustrate me, can anybody help?

Um, not sure but I think layer ordering is ONLY available in Pro.
Perhaps Wes (who has both) can comment. One thing is for sure -- it's only in the 5.6 version of AS, and it works by creating a group layer and then changing the order within that group.

I do have a little layer box in the right hand corner and I can change the layers so that one layer always appears in front another one. And I can change them whenever I want, but whatever changes I make stay for the entire scene, I wasnt sure if there was a way to change the order of the layers in the middle of the timeline. I tried just jumping to a frame and changing the order but that doesnt do it, all it does is change the order of the layer for the full scene

There's animated layer ordering since version 5.6 - check your version?

You can get the update to 5.6 here.
Animated layer ordering works in AS Standard. You'll just need to put the layers you want to sort in a bone layer. Layers can only be sorted if they are in a group type layer (group or bone layer).
