I CAN NOT render my images/animations... If I click File the render option is simply not there. If I hit Ctrl+r nothing happens. This makes it hard to work with a gradient.

non pro version hasn't render window, you must to export the animation (or one single frame) to see how is going on.
It's bad, I know, sorry.

AS Standard 5.6 has the render function (ctrl+R). If you have 5.x you can download the free update to 5.6 from SmithMicro.
