Bone Organization & and subgroups in switch layers

Hello,

In my bone rig, I have a switch layer for the eyes. Within the switch layer, I have sub group that contains the layers for the eye (eyelash, iris, etc.). I was going to add another eye layer for a closed eye.

The issue I am having is that when I move the bone layer for the head I the head and the switch layer for the mouth move, the the switch layers for the eyes stay stationary.

Here is the image of the layer layout. http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb31 ... hot-01.jpg
I have highlighted in pink of where the eye swtich layers are.

You just need to layer-bind those switch layers to your main head bone. I'd assume your 'face' group layer contains the mouth, and is already layer bound to that bone.

Thanks, after a couple of tries I got it to work.
Is there an order of procedure to bind the layer groups to the bones on the first try.

Sometimes when I select the head bone and then click on one of the switch layers and hit the bind layer button, it does not activate right away.

The manual says:
The last way to bind an object to a bone is to bind an entire layer to a single arm. Make sure the Arm vector layer is still selected and activate the Bind Layer tool. Click on the lower arm bone to bind the entire Arm layer to the lower arm bone.

Hierarchy Limit to binding layer to bones?

Hi ,

I noticed an issue, or if I'm doing it wrong.
My whole character is under one bone group.

I have the parts of each arm in it's own folder (left arm folder and right arm folder). The bind layer is only active to the main folder group. When I select the vector layer of the arm parts within the Left-Arm folder or Right-Arm folder, the bind layer is not active.

Thanks in advance

Binding only works between layers which are directly under each other in the hierarchy. This works:

- bone layer
- - vector layer 1
- - group layer 2
- - bone layer 3

The layers 1 - 3 are inside the bone layer, therefor the binding works.

This doesn't work:
- bone layer
- - group layer
- - - vector layer 1
- - - image layer 2

In this case the layers 1 and 2 are not affected by the bone layer. Only the group layer is bound to a bone.
