i have a box.
i make it have a gradient color.
i click file>render and and i see the gradient. looks great!
i take the box and click file>Export to flash and test it out... no gradient. just the fill color..

what am i doing wrong?

I'm guessing you're using an older version of Moho. Because the older version of MoHo had real bad flash export.
But now V5 is in beta testing and has outstandingly(!!) great flash export which supports gradients.
