Use Picasa drag and drop in AS?

Um, sorry, gang, but this isn't really an AS question/problem, but I'm a little frantic now.
With no changes that I know of (one of the bad things about Picasa is that it will automatically install new versions unless you tell it not to) my Picasa 3 now no longer allows me to drag and drop an image into AS.
It used to be that in the library view I could just drag an image over into AS (at which point I'd get the famous AS dialog asking me if I wanted to trace or use it as a layer). Now, however, it just gives me a pointing hand (indicating that Picasa still has focus) and nowhere in the Picasa program do I see any option to change behaviors like this.
Anyone have a clue? (If this continues I'll see if I can step back to a previous Picasa version, although I suspect I can't install Picasa 2 anymore).
