No sound with Quicktime export?

I'm starting (again) to try and figure out AS Pro.

I've got my animation synced to a .wav file, but when I export it as a quicktime, the audio isn't included.

Any ideas why?

Does audio not get included when you only export a frame range instead of the complete animation?

And does anyone know why the audio playback stutters so much when I'm working on the file? I've got a MacPro 2.66 with 6 gigs of RAM that I use for audio recording, and it can play back dozens of 24 bit tracks without a hiccup. Shouldn't I be able to get through an animation of 2 characters with 1 stereo audio track without problems?

Thanks for any help or info you can provide!

Hello Tim

You have to import your sound file

I've done that -- as I said above, I synced the animation to a .wav file (which I loaded into AS Pro). The sound plays back as I scrub through the animation, and the waveform shows up in the timeline.

But when I export the animation - silence.

What's up wit' dat?

Hello again

This may sound a little childish, but I would resample the wav, just in case, Once, not in AS Pro though, Quicktime would not play a sound file, I resampled it with audition and it went great.

QT just didnt like the sampling of that perticular sound file for some reason.

That seems to be the culprit, althought some of the quicktime codecs don't work so well.

I've noticed a problem with QT when rendering from other programs. The sound is there but it just won't play. It's strange. I have to restart QT.

The 'frame range' appears to be the culprit.

After a few more tests, exporting the entire animation worked just fine. But anytime I used a frame range, no sound.

I believe this would qualify as a "bug", no?

Is there somewhere I should email bug reports to? Or is this a 'known issue', or pilot error?

At least for now I know the work around...

I wouldn't call it a bug. AS has very limited audio capabilities, so I wouldn't expect it to 'split' the audio for export. But really, exporting a frame range is only something I'd do for preview. Generally scenes are short enough to be handled wholesale
