Hello all

Still in the process of learning AS Pro here, especially character modelling/drawing/rigging

This is my first attempt at a human model/character.

I dont like the hair that much, made line contours black, will work on other colors.

Suggestions/comments most welcome.

Like you said, the hair needs some work. Looks very good. The lips could be a shade lighter, I think.

Hello synthsin75 (scary the way I can write your nick without reading it now)

Thanks and yes, you are right, lips too dark and will do the hair, she's having quite a bad hair day but it was fun the way I modeled it.

AS has quite a set of drawing tools even though basic, which is what makes it fun, only wish we had more control over gradients, I wanted to try some shading for the skin, will try with softedge instead, like I did for the cheeks.

Here's the file.

GCharb, you might check out this thread about doing much more with gradients. I normally wouldn't point newbies toward the more technical stuff, but you seem to be speeding along nicely.

The fun is what keeps most of us around.

Yeah, but there are plenty of other shading options as well.

Sorry kkrawal, missed your post.

I am new to AS, so it does not feel right for me to make a tutorial, but I posted the file, see above!

Hey G,
Nice design, really like the face... hair does require some work.
A while back I created a tutorial for constructing a face so that you can easily close eyes, and manipulate the mouth easily (overlapping) - it was a long time ago so you probably wouldn't see it but i thought you might find it useful... its a good way to get teeth/tongue/eyeballs/shading inside the holes.

One of AS's joys is the way you can stack shapes, but it takes some getting your head around if you're used to thinking in 'layers' where everything you draw and see is in front of the last thing.

Hello all

Here's an updated version of that model

Image

I've done other hair, which I still dont like, heh.
I've put a gradient on her face to make it less flat.
Mouth is lighter with softer highlights.
Modified the left cheek rosiness.
Modified shadow on the neck.
