Hello All,

Can anyone here suggest an animated movie to watch for the purposes of studying the process of animating water. I am looking for something showing a simple stormy sea. I recently watched a bit of disney's pocahontas but found the stormy sea to be beyond my abilities and was hoping for some guidance regarding simplier rough water examples.

many thanks

Well, here is a very simplified example:

Creating more sophisticated wave-movements shouldn’t be a problem.
(ones imagination and creativity is the limit...)

Thanks mate. I'll give it a crack. But from what I have read about the difficulties of animating water I can imagine that some stormy seas await me!!

thanks,

There is a pretty spectacular book on animating special effects by a Disney guru.

Joseph Gilland. “Elemental Magic”: The Classical Art of Hand-Drawn Effects Animation.

My birthday is coming up in a few days . . .

The Tezuka School of Animation book has a guide on making different types of animated water in an accessible way.
