Hi, i know that for using the simple lip synch you have layers in a switch like this:

Open
4
3
2
Closed

My question is, can you have additional in-between layers such as:

Open
7
6
5
4
3
2
Closed

If so, is there a limit?

Nope, you can have as many as your computer can handle.

Just tested this with twenty layers, and it works, but you'd have to have a pretty full range of amplitude in the sound file to utilize all those. The topmost layer is always the loudest bit of the soundtrack, and the bottom the quietest. If there's not enough difference between these, it'll skip a lot of the layers.

Basically, the more vertical space the sound file's wave form takes up in the timeline the more layers you can get away with using.

However, note that this is almost completely unnecessary.

For very smooth motion you can actually just have two layers, open and closed, and use interpolation. They will have an infinite amount of change between them and smooth.

But most of the time three layers is all that is needed for this primitive (open/closed) kind of lip sync -- any more will not be discerned by the human eye at normal speeds.

That is something i will certainly explore mkelley, however what i am attempting to achieve is a little unusual.
