Switch Layer Misunderstandment

Hey guys I'm starting to make a character on AS pro and I'm having a problem.... I made an Eyes Switch layer and put four cycles for the eyes to close and open, when I close the Switch Layer the Editing and Rendering modes both show the eyes all the way closed, is there a way that I can switch the layers off so I can make an eye cycle or should I make a group layer that allows only one eye cycle to be seen at a time? The closed eye cycle is at the bottom (by the way) Thanks-

First we need to sort out what you've done. Maybe it's just a matter of terminology, but I think you mixed up something.
The eyes switch layer should contain several vector layers, one for open eye, one for closed eye, one for inbetween, and so on. There is no animation in any of these layers.
Now if you animate an eye blink, you will create keys in the switch layer timeline, which select one of the eyelid layers inside. This is done by right-click on the switch layer in the layer palette, which will give you a pulldown of all available layers inside. Choose one, and the key will be created in the switch layer timeline in the actual frame.
(There's no cycle involved, and a group layer doesn't help you here - it's the switch layer which allows only one of its inside layers to be seen.)
Thanks!
